I’m not gonna lie, MTV’s Made was and still is one of the best shows ever created.

Watch and you’ll see why.

Real people. Accomplishing real goals. With real tough coaches.

A girl who could barely make it on a soccer field wanted to play rugby. Hardcore doesn’t describe it. She puked. She bled. She did it.

A scrawny nerdy shy kid who wanted to rap like the rap gods. He found the strength from within to outperform his linguistic peers.

At the core of it all you have to have the right help. And for them, it was always the ruthless shut-up-and-just-do-it type of coaching that got them from absolute zero to damn near peak.

Me? I spent a large portion of my youth thinking I could only do one thing well, only to discover from a high school kickboxing class actual fundamentals that changed me in so many ways.

Here's my takeaways:

1. Find the story that inspires you to believe.

If you don't have the story, you won't have the belief. Stories tell lessons. And the emotional draw is where you're most impacted.

My (brief) story: I overcame what I thought were physical limitations and got past them with the right help and guidance

My instructor wasn't tough, but he was experienced and skilled in his practice(s).

    2. It usually isn’t one but a collective sum that brings out the most impactful results.

One person may adequately distill centuries of truths and see beyond by cutting through the noise, but it's the holistic angle encompassing three divergent fundamental philosophies representing as one main and two supplemental.

I learned on key and main philosophy that was combined with two others - all ancient art forms and all well-established in practice and in thought.

    3. One of a kind is real but it’s rare, because most people aren’t a sum of more than one (and that’s ok).

Most people will go through life without trying to change who they are,
without understanding that their preconceived beliefs and abilities are faulty at best.

One of a kind is the pinnacle. A very rare few can claim this status.

To understand it and practice it, arguably, makes you elite.
